Travis Gwen Ferguson, Sr.

Funeral services for Travis Gwen Ferguson Sr., 85, of Greenville will be at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Greenville, MS. He passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at his home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.

He was born on November 27, 1933 in Ruleville, MS the son of O. B. Ferguson and Eura McCain Ferguson. Travis moved to Hollandale, MS where he graduated high school. He attended Mississippi State University before enlisting in the U.S. Army.  After his discharge he made his home in Greenville and was employed with U.S. Gypsum until becoming an insurance salesman with Woodman of the World.  He retired after 50 years of service as manager.  He was active in the Red Cross and Disaster Relief Team.  He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian Bell Ferguson of Greenville; four daughters, Chery Johnson (Floyd) of Hernando, Gaye Thomas (Steve) of Trinity, NC, Tanya Long (Curt) of Palm Harbor, FL, and Jan Borrego (Joseph) of North Glenn, CO; a son, Travis G. Ferguson, Jr. of Batesville; two step daughters, Alice Shirey of Olive Branch and Tammy Vaughan (Stacy) of Johnson City, TN; step son, James Shirey (Liz) of Malvern, AR; brother, Boyd Ferguson (Ann) of Iuka; sister, Waurine Walley (Doug) of Brandon; daughter-in-law, Julie Ferguson; nineteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.

There will be a visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m., Saturday at the church.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Red Cross or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
