Funeral services for Vallie Jean Westrope, 82, of Greenville will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 9 at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. She died Saturday, February 2 at Baptist Hospital in Jackson. Burial will be in the Greenville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
Mrs. Westrope was born in Lake Village, AR on January 7, 1937 the daughter of Garland E. and Leona Rice. She worked for the Fred P. Gattas Company for many years. She started working for them in the jewelry department and worked her way up to store manager. After Fred P. Gattas closed, she worked in sales for McRae’s Fine Jewelry until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David “Sonny” Westrope, Jr., her parents and brothers, Garland E. “Jiggs” Rice and Robert “Dicky” Rice.
She is survived by her son, David Westrope III and his wife Vivian and grandson, David Victor Westrope.
There will be a visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to the American Heart Association or to a charity of your choice.
