Wade Harvey Burns, Jr.

Wade Harvey Burns Jr., age 75, of Leland, Mississippi, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026, while holding his son Cody’s hand.

Wade was a caring father and grandfather, an avid hunter and fisherman, and a dedicated and hard working officer for the Leland Police Department. He was known for his strong work ethic, love of the outdoors, and deep devotion to his family. His steady presence and quiet strength left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marilyn Burns; his parents, Wade Burns Sr. and Billie Burns; and his sister, Barbara Mauney.

He is survived by his only son, Cody Burns, and daughter-in-law, April Burns; his grandchildren, Liam Burns, Tucker Burns, Lilly Worbington, Haylee Worbington, and Madeline Worbington; and his sister, Debbie Anderson.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Boone Funeral Home – Leland Location, 101 South Broad Street, Leland, Mississippi 38756.
A burial service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Stoneville Cemetery, Old Leland Road, Leland, Mississippi.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Mississippi Wildlife Heritage Museum, P. O. Box 422, Leland, Mississippi 38756.

After years apart, Wade is now finally home—reunited with his loving wife, Marilyn.
His memory will live on through those who loved him.
