Wanda Hemphill Ross

Funeral services for  Wanda Hemphill Ross, 91, of Greenville will be at Noon, Saturday, October 6 at Boone  Funeral Home, Leland.  She died Thursday, October 4 at The Pinacle in Greenville.  Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.

Mrs. Ross was born on January 5, 1927 in Ackerman, MS to James and Ada Hemphill.  After her graduation she moved to Greenville where she met and married Ernest L. Ross.  In 1966 she graduated from Mississippi Delta Junior College with an A.D. in nursing and she practiced her profession at Delta Regional Medical Center until her retirement.

A loving soul, Wanda put God and others ahead of herself.  Her selflessness and humility always stood as an example for all to follow.  She was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and Training Union for many years.  She also served as the music director and pianist. 

She is preceded in death by husband and her beloved son, Ralph Ross; her parents; brothers, Henry, Devon, Loyce and Doyce Hemphill; and sisters, Orris Doolittle and Mavis White.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Judy Ross, who cared for her so lovingly during her illness; granddaughter, Kelly Ross and great grandson, Luke Ross, who were the joys of her life.  She is also survived by nieces and nephews who considered her a second mother and loved “Aunt Undie” dearly.

There will be a visitation one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
