Funeral services for Wanda Johnson Moore will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Boone Funeral Home in Greenville. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until the service time. She passed away peacefully on September 30, 2024, in Oroville, Washington, at the age of 91. Born on January 24, 1933, Wanda lived a life marked by devotion to her family and her faith.
A loving and caring woman, Wanda dedicated much of her life to teaching about Jesus,
profoundly impacting her family and community.
She shared 72 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Troy L. Moore, and was a nurturing mother to her daughters. Wanda’s commitment to her faith extended into her professional life, where she served as a secretary for the Washington County Baptist Missionary for 15 years. Following this role, she and Troy owned and operated the Revelation Christian Book Store in Greenville, Mississippi, for another 15 years.
Wanda was an active member of several churches throughout her life, including Southside Baptist Church and Emmanuel Baptist Church in Greenville, Mississippi; Fairview Baptist Church in Columbus, Mississippi; First Baptist in Ruidoso, New Mexico; and Oroville Free Methodist Church in Oroville, Washington. Her spiritual life was a cornerstone of her existence, guiding her actions and interactions.
In addition to her deep faith, Wanda enjoyed dancing, particularly the jitterbug, playing games, shopping, and spending quality time with her daughters. She also had a passion for teaching Bible lessons, which she did with great enthusiasm and wisdom.
Wanda was preceded in death by her daughter Judy Moore White; her parents, Harry R. and Virginia S. Johnson; her sister, Peggy White; and her brothers, Harry Russell Johnson and Don Johnson. She is survived by her husband, Troy L. Moore; daughters Charlotte Roe Range (Vaughn), Jo White (Randy), and Jackie Greene (Calvin); 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in memory of Wanda Moore, honoring her lifelong commitment to caring for others.
