Funeral services for William Austin Hester, 83, of Benoit will be at 2:00 p.m, Tuesday, February 26 at Benoit Union Church. He passed away Saturday, February 23. Burial will be in the Burrus Cemetery in Benoit under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
He was born August 14, 1935 in Alabama to Mabel Wilson and W. F. Hester. He was married to the late Dorothy Dexter Hester.
Austin was a lifetime farmer. He grew up the son of a farmer and became an accomplished farmer of his own. He loved working the land and could always be found early at the shop drinking coffee with friends and getting ready for another day of farming.
He is preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Hester and Oliver Hester. He is survived by his son, Bill and wife, Debbie of Stoneville; five grandchildren, Libby McRight and husband, John Hunter, Merideth VanNamen and husband, Stephen, Trey Hester and wife, Jenna, Sara Moreland Hester and Rachael Hester; six great grandchildren, Reine and Oscar McRight, Hall and Jude VanNamen, Wills Hester and Brody Hester. He also leaves two sisters, Sylvia Nokes of Benoit and Jeanette Graham of Clinton.
There will be a visitation from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the church.
