William Koeppe

Funeral Mass for William Koeppe, 96, of Greenville will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.  He passed away, Friday, February 28, 2020 at the Pinnacle in Greenville.  Burial will be in the Greenville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
 
Mr. Koeppe was born May 16, 1923 in Oconto, Wisconsin to William and Elsie Koeppe.  He married Lucille “Lou” C. Kellner on November 27, 1947 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. 
 
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church since moving to Greenville in 1962; was a life-time member of the Knights of Columbus, serving as Grand Knight and long standing Fourth Degree Knight and member of the American Legion and the VFW.  He was an avid bowler, traveler and enjoyed various family gatherings.
He was a World War II veteran, Radioman, First Class (T), U.S. Naval Reserve from November 28, 1942 to January 5, 1946.
 
He was preceded in death by his wife and sister, Audrey Nelsen.  He is survived by three daughters, Pat Word (Jimmy) of Greenville, Chris Medaille (John) of Irving, TX and Jan Koeppe of Ganado, TX; eight grandchildren, Beverly Hembree, Jimbo Word, Greg Word, Ann Medaille, Bill Medaille, John Medaille, Kate Bluett and Dan Medaille; eight great-grandchildren, Marie Filbey, Chad Filbey, Cooper Word, Mia Morgan Word, Cady Hembree, Molly Medaille, Joseph Bluett,  and Elijah Bluett.  Also by special friends, Kathy Schoeneberg and Seth Metcalf.
 
The family extends a special thanks to the staff at the Pinnacle, Dr. Barry Gillespie, Dr. Michael Mansour, and Dr. Amita Patel for the care they have given him these past years.
 
There will be a visitation 5:00-6:00 p.m. Monday, March 2, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of your choice.
