Funeral services for William Lee “Billy” Griffin, 90, of Greenville will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 29, 2019 at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. He passed away on Monday, November 25, 2019 at Delta Regional Medical Center. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
Billy was a native of Greenville and graduated from Greenville High School in 1947. He married Betty Richard and they recently celebrated 70 years of marriage. He was involved in farming and later worked as a bookkeeper at the Greenville Stock Yards and at Farmers Incorporated. Billy was known for his high quality hay and for his goats and sheep. He was an avid fisherman, coon and turkey hunter. Billy was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church where he served on numerous committees, and as church treasurer, and head usher.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Bill Griffin and Dr. Richard Griffin. He is survived by his wife, Betty Griffin; sons, Jim Griffin (Carol) of Batesville, MS and Walter Griffin of Starkville; brother, Richard F. Griffin of Florida; 7 grandchildren, Thomas Griffin (Sara), Jamie Pitcock (Benjamin), Jessica Hawkins (Eric), Amber Griffin, Matthew Griffin, Will Griffin and Jimmy Griffin; and 10 great grandchildren.
There will be a visitation from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Boone Funeral Home on Friday. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
