William Leroy “Roy” Turner, Jr.

Graveside services for William Leroy “Roy” Turner, Jr., 93, of Greenville will be held on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at 2pm at the Greenville Cemetery. Roy passed away peacefully on November 17, 2016 at his daughter’s home surrounded by his loving family. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. 

He was born on October 18, 1923 in Bogalusa, LA. Growing up in Durant, MS, he attended Mississippi State University before WWII. He served in the Army Air Corps and graduated from the University of Mississippi after the war. He married in 1953 and had two children. Roy was in sales throughout his career, working as a manufacturer’s representative for several men’s clothing companies covering four states for many years. He was active in the Lion’s Club in the 1960’s and was a Salvation Army volunteer. Roy was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, teaching youth Sunday school. He was an avid fan of the Ole Miss Rebels and loved to play golf and watch all sports. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorris Watwood Turner. Survivors include his daughter, Susan Turner Henderson (Jack) of Greenville, son, Charles Roy Turner (Melanie) of Collierville, TN, and one grandson, Russell Turner of Collierville, TN. Roy is also survived by two sisters, Thelma Elaine Holland of Hollandale, MS and Ada Lee Malone of Springdale, AR and his special friend, Corrine Buehler. 

The family would like to thank the staff at DRMC Hospice Care and also three devoted caregivers, Donna Mickel, Catina Thompson, and Joanne Boston. Memorials may be sent to Trinity Community Church in Greenville.
